This is just a little thing, but I remember it very clearly and it was very cool.

When I was little, maybe around 6 years old, we were at a natural history museum, I forget which one, we were on vacation.

I was a big rock/fossil nut, and as I was perusing stuff a woman walked past with a file or something like that, and a sheet fell out of it. She walked right by me and into an office off to the side.

A professorial-looking elderly type saw me looking at the sheet of paper that had fallen, and he said, “Why don’t you go bring that to her?”

So I went into the office and gave it to her and she thanked me. When I went outside the older gentleman thanked me too and he told me to come back with him to HIS office.

With my parents in tow we went with him. He turned out to be the curator of the museum, and he fished around in his eclectic, cluttered office and gave me a trilobite fossil for my tiny efforts.

For a young boy this was really, really cool and I remember it clearly today.
